Pavlova on course for Ascot
Richard Fahey would like to see a drop of rain at Ascot ahead of Anna Pavlova’s scheduled appearance at the Berkshire track on Saturday.
The three-year-old filly is likely to bid for her second Listed success in the EBF Willmott Dixon Harvest Stakes over a mile and a half.
She was caught close home by Rising Cross in the Group Two Park Hill Stakes over a mile and three-quarters at York last time after taking the Listed Galtres Stakes at the same track.
The latter came over Saturday’s distance and Fahey said: “She seems fine so the plan is to run.
“We’re just waiting on the ground for her, hopefully they’ll get a bit of rain there and she’ll go.”
The ground at the Berkshire track is currently described as good to soft, soft in places on the round course.
“That would be spot on,” added the Malton trainer.
Fahey is also hoping to send Red Lancer and St Savarin for the £75,000 ladbrokes.com Heritage Handicap on the same card.
At this stage, however, they may miss the cut.
“If they get in both will run, but at the minute it’s borderline,” Fahey added.
