Dancer bows out

04/10/2006 - 09:51:45
Norse Dancer has been retired after struggling to find his form this season.

Trainer David Elsworth confirmed the six-year-old, who was placed in Group One company but never won at the highest level, has run his last race.

He told the Sportsman: “He was a much maligned horse with a lot of class and when he was good he was very, very good, but it is true he has shown signs of losing his spark, so we have called it a day.”

Norse Dancer won four of his 35 starts but he was only narrowly beaten by Azamour in last year’s King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes and also finished a close second to Sulamani in the 2004 Juddmonte International Stakes at York.
