Cat set to pounce in Belmont

30/09/2006 - 11:52:24
Discreet Cat puts his unbeaten record on the line in the 150,000 Jerome Breeders’ Cup Handicap at Belmont Park on Sunday.

Godolphin’s three-year-old has so far been imperious on a racecourse and has racked up four consecutive victories.

The three-year-old, now back to full fitness after a series of setbacks, was last seen registering an 11-length success at Saratoga in August – his first run since winning the UAE Derby in March.

“The scary thing is Discreet Cat has probably improved since the UAE Derby,” claimed Rick Mettee, Saeed bin Suroor’s New York assistant.

“This isn’t the program we had set up for him but once he got sick it changed everything – we had to do the right thing by him.

“We’ll see how he gets on in this race,” Metee told www.thebloodhorse.com.
