Jay-Z given permission to tour

Rapper-turned-mogul Jay-Z was given permission to take two months away from his duties as president of Island Def Jam records so he can tour - by label boss Antonio 'LA' Reid'.

Jay-Z came out of retirement and made plans to hit the road after accepting the offer position at the record company.

But Reid insists Jay-Z is an asset to the label - even when he is away from his desk.

He tells the New York Daily News: "I don't think anybody expected him to be in the office every day. But he's been really serious about the job. When I hired him, I got lucky."
