Rate of house prices increase slowing

29/09/2006 - 15:07:49
A new survey shows that house prices are still rising but at a slower rate than before.

The study shows that on average they rose by 1% in August while they increased by 1.1% per cent in July, which in turn was lower than the rates of increase in June and May.

According to Permanent TSB and the ESRI, it suggests that the rise in interest rates is having an effect.

Meanwhile, house prices are still rising faster in Dublin where the average price of a house is now almost €413,000 compared to almost €265,000 in the rest of the country.
