Madonna breaks world wealth record
29/09/2006 - 08:39:17Singing superstar Madonna has smashed pop rival Britney Spears' record for the highest annual earnings by a female singer.
The Material Girl raked in an estimated $50m (€39.5m) in 2004 - over $10m (€7.9m) more than Spears earned in 2000 - $38.5m (€30.4m).
The latest edition of the Guinness Book of World Records also hails crooner James Blunt's Back to Bedlam album for selling the most copies in the UK in a year and rock newcomers Arctic Monkeys for having the fastest selling UK debut album with Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not.
It sold 363,735 copies in its first week and 113,000 on its first day.
