Crash between bus and oil tanker in Pakistan kills 20
28/09/2006 - 11:35:57A minibus and an oil tanker collided in southern Pakistan today, killing 20 people and injuring 12, police said.
The head-on crash occurred at a sharp bend on a narrow road near Dadu, a city about 110 miles northeast of the southern port city of Karachi, said area police officer Ali Asghar.
Twenty people on the bus were killed, Asghar said. Fifteen, including the bus driver, were killed instantly and five others died at a nearby hospital. Twelve people were injured and four, including the oil tanker driver, were in serious conditions, he said.
It was not immediately clear what caused the crash, but traffic accidents are common in Pakistan because of bad poor road conditions, vehicle maintenance and driving standards.
