Teen for trial over detention centre riot

A teenage boy arrested for taking part in a riot in the St Patrick’s Institution on St Stephen’s Day last year has been returned for trial to the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

The 17-year-old north inner city Dublin boy was charged with violent disorder for engaging in conduct with four others that would cause a person to fear for his and others’ safety, at the detention centre in Dublin.

The teen, who is on bail, was served with the book of evidence in the case at the Dublin Children’s Court and sent forward for trial to the next term of the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
