Hanafin publishes review of guidance counselling services
15/09/2006 - 13:37:29Minister for Education Mary Hanafin has promised further improvements in the provision of guidance counselling services to secondary school pupils.
Ms Hanafin was speaking at the launch of a review of such services conducted between 2003 and 2005.
The study raised concerns about how guidance counselling resources are used in some schools, but Ms Hanafin said inspections had uncovered significant progress since the research was carried out.
She said most schools had received increased resources in the intervening period, allowing them to address the issues highlighted by the review.
