Electronics firm Braun to lay off 157 workers in Carlow
15/09/2006 - 13:56:54The electronics manufacturer Braun is to lay off more than 150 workers at its plant in Carlow.
Workers at the factory were informed this morning that 97 full-time jobs and 60 part-time posts will be shed in an effort to cut costs.
The news will be a major blow to the town, which has suffered a string of job losses in the past two years.
Braun is Carlow's biggest employer, with around 500 people working at the factory.
