Republic of Ireland continue to fall in FIFA rankings
13/09/2006 - 11:09:47Ireland have fallen to its lowest position in the FIFA world rankings in seven-and-a-half years.
The latest monthly rankings released by football's world governing body puts Steve Staunton's men 43rd in the standings.
This is down five places since last month and the lowest Irish ranking since April 1999.
Elsewhere, England are now fourth in the rankings, equalling the all-time high they achieved under Glenn Hoddle in December 1997.
Northern Ireland, meanwhile, had jumped 14 places to 58th, while Scotland are up six to 34th and Wales are down six to 62nd.
