Five in running for Cavan job
Five men are in the running to become Cavan's new senior football manager and replace Martin McElkennon, who quit last month.
Locals Tony Brady, Terry Hyland, Vincent Kelly and Donal Keoghan are to battle it out with former Derry star Damien Cassidy for the right to assume the Breffni county hot seat.
All five have allowed their names to go forward, after receiving nominations from county clubs.
Both Keoghan and Brady have previously managed the Cavan minor team, while Cassidy was McElkennon's right hand man for the last two campaigns.
Kelly, who was nominated by his home club Denn, has coached Trinity College in the Sigerson Cup, and Hyland's main experience comes from his time as assistant to Val Andrews during the Dubliner's stints as manager of Cavan and Louth.
Bellaghy clubman Cassidy, helped by his in-depth knowledge of the current Cavan players, is seen as the favourite, but all that could change once the interviewing process begins in the coming weeks.
The special committee, set up by the Cavan County Board to oversee the appointment of a new manager, will notably have the power to interview candidates other than those nominated by the clubs.
