11/09/2006 - 07:30:26
A man will appear in court today charged with murdering a man whose facial injuries were so severe he was identified only after police issued a computerised image of him.

James McDonald, 56, from Dumfries, Scotland, was found murdered in a house in Penrose Street, south Belfast, last Wednesday.

He had suffered extensive facial injuries and was identified only after police issued a computerised image of him on Saturday and received numerous calls.

A 22-year-old man was charged with his murder last night and will appear at Belfast Magistrates Court today.

A second man arrested in connection with the murder was released without charge yesterday, pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

Four other people had previously been released without charge.
