Affleck still embarrassed by baseball bungle
Oscar winner Ben Affleck was left mortified this summer when he tried to catch a baseball during a game and was subsequently booed by furious fans.
The actor was watching his beloved Boston Red Sox play the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim with his wife Jennifer Garner when he reached for a foul ball.
The ball was grabbed from his fingertips by Angels star Howie Kendrick, who has since signed a ball and given it to the actor as a 34th birthday gift.
But Affleck can't get the boos of fellow Red Sox fans out of his head.
"They (Red Sox fans) were upset. Some of the fans thought I should have tackled the guy," said Affleck. "It seemed a little extreme to me, I don't know.
"The moral of the story is: 'Bring your glove, folks, bring your glove.'
"The interesting thing was, I actually almost caught the ball that time, and at the end of the inning, the second baseman for the Angels I think felt bad for me - that I got the ball snatched away from me.
"So when the inning was over, he kind of lobbed the ball into the stands and I was looking at my wife, so I missed it and she caught it! Without the glove, by the way!"
