Make up your own mind, says Morgan

Cork football coach Billy Morgan refused to enter a mud-slinging contest with Kerry’s Jack O’Connor today, following the latter’s comments at the Kerry press night this week.

O’Connor was speaking at the media gathering in the build up to the All-Ireland football final and referred to Morgan’s comments after Cork’s four competitive meetings between the two that Kerry were a “cynical team”.

O’Connor stated this week that Cork were hoping to paint Kerry in a bad light commenting: “Somewhere along the line Cork got this notion where if they threw enough muck some of it would stick.”

The Cork coach spoke out initially following the Football League tie between the two sides last February when he stated that Kerry were the most cynical team in Ireland.

Morgan again spoke out following the All-Ireland semi-final loss when Nicholas Murphy was injured and Michael Shields was forced from the game early on.

This morning Morgan refused to be drawn into a war of words with O’Connor.

“All I’ll say is that people have their own eyes and they saw what went on,” said Morgan. “People will make up their own minds.

“Apart from that I’ve no comment to make on the reported comments.”
