Loughnane applies for Galway job

Television pundit Ger Loughnane could be set to make a managerial comeback.

The former Clare hurling boss, who won two All-Irelands with the county, has allowed his name to be put forward for the vacant position with Galway.

The position has been left vacant following the resignation of Conor Hayes this week after four years in charge.

Should Loughnane get the job, he will be first "outside" Galway manager in 30 years.
