Irish Cancer Society hails new vaccine as ‘historic breakthrough’
05/09/2006 - 10:11:24The Irish Cancer Society is describing the new vaccine against cervical cancer as an "historic breakthrough".
The drug, known as Gardasil is due to come on the market next month. A second vaccine, called Cevarix, will be launched next year.
Gardasil can be administered in three doses over a six-month period to young girls.
It is expected to cost around €300 for the full course.
