Nurses decide not to vote on Social Partnership
01/09/2006 - 15:05:00The Irish Nurses Organisation says it won't be voting on the new social partnership programme, Towards 2016.
It is awaiting recommendations on pay and working conditions from the Labour Court.
Nurses are looking for improved working conditions, including a 10% pay rise and a 35-hour working week.
General Secretary Liam Doran says social partnership hasn't worked for nurses.
“You tell us how social partnership has helped nursing in this country. If that social partnership has worked, well then it has failed the patient and it has failed nurses and midwives,” he said.
