Financial boost given to counselling services

€9m is being made available to groups providing counselling services and supports.

More than half will go to marriage counsellors, with 18% to bereavement counsellors, 14% to child counselling and 10% to marriage preparation courses.

It represents an increase of €750,000 on last year's funding.

Up to 540 voluntary and community groups will benefit with more than 45 of these getting grants of over €40,000.
