Electric Picnic to get underway in Laois
01/09/2006 - 09:43:36Last-minute preparations are underway at Stradbally Estate in Co Laois for the Electric Picnic festival which kicks off this afternoon.
Thirty thousand people are expected to turn up armed with tents, camping gear and wellies for the three-day event.
New Order, Massive Attack and PJ Harvey are among those headlining, while other features include a "silent disco" (dancers are given headsets playing music), human scrabble and a burlesque show.
The campsites opened this morning at 9am, while the first acts will be on stage just after 6pm this evening.
