An earthquake-damaged, seven-storey apartment bloc collapsed in a mountain resort near Pakistan’s capital today, killing the building’s owner and son.

Rescuers retrieved one woman survivor from the rubble.

The seven-story building, which had been previously ordered to be demolished, collapsed in Muree at 3am local time, said government official Javed Ikhlas.

Rescuers recovered the body of the building’s owner, Abbasi Aurangzeb, and his son Nadeem, 27, said Zaheerul Hassan, a doctor at an army hospital where the bodies were taken.

Two other people were spotted trapped underneath debris, but it was unclear if they were alive, Hassan said.
