Aer Lingus profits up 27% in first half of year

31/08/2006 - 08:04:57
Aer Lingus is reportedly set to announce a 27% increase in profits during the first half of this year.

Reports this morning say the airline's profits for the first six months of 2006 were just less than €20m, up from €15.5m in the first half of 2005.

The increased profit is being attributed to a 12% rise in passenger numbers on short-haul flights across Europe.

This morning's reports say Aer Lingus is also expecting profits for the full year to reach €92.5m, despite spiralling fuel costs.

This is good news for the company as it prepares to float shares on the stock market at the end of next month.
