Teacher-training scheme to give pupils six extra days off
30/08/2006 - 07:45:46Primary school pupils are reportedly set to get six extra days off school this year on top of their regular school holidays.
Reports this morning say the extra days off are due to in-service training for teachers.
Parents will also reportedly get late notice of the closures as the timetable for the training days has yet to be drawn up.
Minister for Education Mary Hanafin is said to be anxious that parents be given the best possible advance notice in order to avoid unnecessary inconvenience.
