EC approve Government's investment in dairy industry
30/08/2006 - 17:58:31The European Commission has approved the Government's multi-million euro investment plan for the Irish dairy sector.
The package will see €300m pumped into the marketing and processing of dairy products.
Minister for Agriculture Mary Coughlan said the fund - which companies will be able to use to invest in new machinery among other things - will help them strengthen their position in increasingly competitive markets.
