Cabinet to hold first meeting since summer break today

The Cabinet is due to hold its first meeting following the summer break today, with the situation in Lebanon and plans for a new Dublin Airport terminal among the issues up for discussion.

Minister for Defence Willie O'Dea is expected to brief his ministerial colleagues on the latest developments in Lebanon.

However, a decision on whether to send Irish troops to take part in the UN peacekeeping mission in the south of the country is not expected for some time.

The new 50,000-square-metre terminal proposed by the Dublin Airport Authority is also up for discussion, with the Cabinet expected to give its backing to the project.
