€500,000 worth of drugs seized at airport in recent weeks
30/08/2006 - 11:54:37Customs officers at Dublin Airport say they have seized various drugs worth an estimated €500,000 during a number of operations in the past two weeks.
Three Dutch nationals, two British women and an Irishman have all been arrested after separate seizures of cannabis, cocaine and the root drug khat.
Elsewhere, another Dutch man was also arrested after more than £167,000 (€247,610) was found in his luggage as he was departing for Eindhoven on Saturday.
The money has been seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act pending further investigations.
Two Lithuanians, meanwhile, were detained after the discovery of 90,000 contraband cigarettes on Monday, while two air pistols and 1,500 tubs of prescription medicines have also been seized at the airport in recent days.
