Bravo considered for Kempton test
Bravo Maestro could make amends for his disappointing York run in Saturday’s Group Three totesport.com September Stakes at Kempton.
Connections of the five-year-old had been hoping for a good performance on the Knavesmire after the gelding’s narrow defeat in the John Smith’s Cup and a competitive event at Haydock.
Bravo Maestro failed to live up to expectations though, dropping out of contention at halfway before finishing a distant 17th of 19 runners.
“I just can’t explain his run at York. It could have been the ground but it certainly wasn’t the distance as he was beaten too far out,” said trainer Nick Littmoden.
“He’s been fine since and worked well this morning so I just can’t explain it.”
Bravo Maestro is set to step back in distance to a mile and a half on Saturday and will revert to the all-weather surface on which he has won five races.
“We would have no worries about the trip on Saturday and we know he goes well on the all-weather. Ryan Moore is booked to ride,” Littmoden added.
