One dead, four hurt in US shooting spree
A New York driver went on a shooting spree in several neighbourhoods apparently targeting victims at random, killing a man and injuring four other people, police said today.
US police said they were interviewing a man they described as a “person of interest” who had been spotted in a vehicle matching the description of one being sought.
The man who died in hospital this morning had been shot in the neck, said detective Dennis Laffin, a spokesman. The other victims were expected to survive, police said after last night’s shootings in New York City’s Queens borough.
Police have said they believe the gunman was driving a damaged green vehicle, possibly a Cadillac.
According to preliminary police reports, the first shooting was at around 7.20pm local time last night.
Police said they believed the green car’s front end had been damaged when the driver fled the scene of one shooting.
