Sligo a thorn in Bray’s side once again
Sligo Rovers 2 Bray Wanderers 1
Sligo beat Bray for the second time in eight days, but they had to battle all the way to make it into the last eight of the FAI Cup tonight.
Rovers trooped off at the break marginal value for a 1-0 lead.
That came on 31 minutes when poor defending was punished as Harpal Singh was allowed get on the end of Darren Mansaram’s cross to fire home.
Bray had chances with Robbie Doyle, Colm Tresson and Stephen Fox all coming close before Rovers’ Liam Burns headed a Keith Foy cross against a post.
Foy should have doubled Sligo’s lead on the hour mark but Chris O’Connor, livid at being penalised for a foul on Singh, brilliantly save his spot kick.
Mansaram then sealed it on 66 minutes, drilling home from the edge of the area from Conor O’Grady’s cross.
Romanian Andre Georgescu gave Bray hope when firing home from Kieran O’Brien's pass on 82 minutes, but Sligo held out.
