Pensioner dies in Monaghan house fire
26/08/2006 - 20:42:24A pensioner has been killed in a house fire in Co Monaghan.
The 79-year-old woman was alone in her home on McCurtain Street in Clones when the blaze broke out during the night.
A neighbour raised the alarm at about 5am but it was too late to save the woman, whose body was found in an upstairs bedroom.
Garda forensics teams are trying to find out the cause of the fire, but believe it started accidentally.
