Community games finals kicks off in Mosney
Over 6,000 youngsters are taking part in the national finals of the HSE sponsored community games.
The sporting event is taking place this weekend at the Mosney holiday centre in Co Meath and aims to promote a healthy lifestyle for children
Youngsters between the ages of 6 and 16 are participating in a wide range of sports activities.
CEO of the community games Donal Buggy says children do learn how to lead a healthier life through participation in the event.
"What we try to do is pass the message across in a subtle way, it's not in your face,” Buggy said. “But by consistently reiterating the message does get through. This year we've changed our menus to take into account the changes in lifestyle requirements brough about by the task force on obseity. We constantly keep up to date and the kids see that.”
