The Front Line

Director: David Gleeson

Cast: Eriq Ebouaney, Gerard McSorley, James Frain, Hakeem Kae-Kazim

Cert: 15

An interesting Irish film that tries, at least, to be different as it examines the problems of a newly-arrived refugee from Africa (Ebouaney).

He gets a job in a bank while awaiting the arrival of his family, and garners the attention of a local gang who force him, by threatening his family, to act as the inside-man in a robbery.

But our hero has a past and the gang discover he’s not the easy push-over they imagined.

Gleeson’s directing is crisp and well-paced and while the film stumbles at times it emerges well on the credit side thanks to the playing of the cast.

Star Rating: 4/5
