Datalex announces profits boost
Travel software company Datalex has announced profits of $1.6m (€1.2m) for the six months ended June 30, an increase of €600,000 over the same period last year.
Total revenues in the period were $12.4m (€9.7m), compared with $14.4m (€11.3m) in the first half of 2005.
The company said a fall on e-business revenues to $8.9m (€7m) from $11.5m (€9m) was in line with expectations. This was partly offset by a fall in operating costs. The company saw a rise in consulting revenue, up to $3.5m (€2.7m) from $2.9m (€2.3m) in the first half of 2005.
"The reduction in e-business revenue was primarily due to our migration towards the transactional model which forfeits short-term license revenue for potentially longer-term earnings," the company said today.
Datalex CEO Cormac Whelan said: "We have made considerable investment in the airline functionality of our product suite over the last 18 months and are expanding our development to productise our "leisure"-based solutions.
"As airlines and travel companies become more strategic about developing alternative distribution and revenue channels this becomes an important part of their infrastructure."
