US soldier killed in combat south of Baghdad
24/08/2006 - 08:07:10A US Army soldier was killed in fighting during a raid south of Baghdad to capture “foreign terrorists”, the US military said in Iraq today.
The soldier was killed yesterday “when his unit came in contact with enemy forces”, said a statement by the US military command.
It said two terrorists were also killed during the fire fight.
“The unit was conducting operations to rid Iraq of foreign terrorists known to be operating in the area,” the statement said. It gave no other details.
