Derry going for Irish record

24/08/2006 - 09:47:14
Derry City take on Scottish side Gretna in the UEFA Cup tonight with an Irish record in their sights.

Having won 5-1 in the away leg, the Candystripes know that a 3-0 victory, something they have managed on seven occasions this season, will ensure an Irish record victory in Europe.

But Derry go into the game without skipper Peter Hutton (blood poisoning) and Killian Brennan (knee) while manager Stephen Kenny could rest Kevin Deery and Ciarán Martyn with Sunday’s FAI Cup clash against Shelbourne on the horizon.
