Police to seek more time to question bomb plot suspects

23/08/2006 - 13:59:00
British police are to seek more time to question some of the 11 suspects still being held in connection with the foiling of an alleged plot to bomb transatlantic airliners.

The period of detention for the men expires today, but police can seek an extra seven weeks to continue their questioning.

They say they will be seeking extensions for some of the suspects, but have not disclosed how many.

Another 11 people have already appeared in court in connection with the alleged plot.

Eight are accused of conspiracy to murder and preparing acts of terrorism, while two are charged with failing to disclose information and a 17-year-old is accused of possessing articles useful to terrorists.
