Dept publishes discussion paper on rural transport scheme
23/08/2006 - 13:20:27The Department of Transport has published a discussion paper about the future of the rural transport initiative.
The scheme sees the Government provide funding for community partnerships to address the transport needs of their local areas.
The department says 34 pilot projects have already proved very successful and it is now considering extending the initiative to other socially-excluded groups.
It also says the scheme could be expanded even wider to include people who need transport to get to work.
