Poulter's Divine Gift pays off
22/08/2006 - 19:01:21Ian Poulter’s horse Divine Gift – a suitable description for what he might need in his quest for a second Ryder Cup appearance – won again today.
While the golfer was practising in Akron, Ohio, for the Bridgestone Invitational, the horse was a 4-7 winner in the 5.50 at Perth.
Poulter, part-owner with his manager, a friend and former Arsenal footballer Ray Parlour, lies 21st in the Ryder Cup race with two weeks left.
If he had the same results as Divine Gift this year – second, 13th, third, first, 24th, 11th, sixth and now first again – he would have sailed into Ian Woosnam’s side.
