Leeds rejects Reading's Kilgallon bid
Leeds chairman Ken Bates has insisted Matthew Kilgallon will not be allowed to leave the club after revealing he has turned down an offer of more than £1m (€1.4m) from Reading.
The 22-year-old centre-half has emerged as one of Leeds’ most prized assets following his rise through the ranks at Elland Road.
His performances have attracted admiring glances from several clubs and led to speculation about his future.
“We actually turned down an offer for more than £1m from Reading so he’s going nowhere,” said Bates.
“If he continues to develop as he is, I can see him as a natural successor to John Terry.”
Pressure appears to be mounting on Leeds manager Kevin Blackwell after his side collected just four points from their opening four Championship matches.
The latest name being touted as his possible replacement is Glenn Hoddle, who is currently out of work following his summer departure from Wolves.
“I saw another story carrying a report that we had Glenn Hoddle lined up as well. That was a load of nonsense and so is this,” added Bates on Yorkshire Radio.
