Golfers tee up for last regional final
Women golfers from across the eastern district will this week battle it out in the last regional final of the inaugural AA Insurance Ladies Championships at St. Margaret’s Golf Club.
An exciting two days play is in store as players from clubs across the district assemble to launch the final of five regional finals in the tournament, alongside representatives from the Irish Ladies Golf Union and AA Insurance.
The championship is the first of its kind in Irish golfing history, with 15,000 Irish lady golfers throughout the country taking part in 2006.
The clubs in contention for a place in the final are Lucan, Castle, Craddockstown, Elm Park, Malahide, Skerries, Kilcoole and Hazel Grove.
Founded in 1893, the ILGU is the oldest ladies golf union in the world. The organisation is responsible for the development of the game of ladies golf in Ireland and caters after 351 affiliated clubs.
