At least five killed in Spanish train derailment
21/08/2006 - 16:44:31At least five people died today in a train derailment in northern Spain, police said.
The six-carriage, long-distance train was carrying 460 passengers.
A spokeswoman for the state rail company RENFE said the train had derailed shortly before 4pm local time (2pm Irish time) near the town of Villada, in the Palencia province of northern Spain.
She gave no casualty figures.
