Three-goal Blues off to flying start
FT: Chelsea 3 Manchester City 0
John Terry launched Chelsea’s bid for a hat-trick of Premiership titles with another trademark header.
Terry scored in his first game as England captain last week and was on target again as Jose Mourinho’s champions sank 10-man Manchester City.
Frank Lampard grabbed the second and Bernado Corradi was sent off on his City debut before Didier Drogba added the third in a comfortable win.
Didier Drogba made it three with a diving header, 12 minutes from time.
Wayne Bridge raced down the left-wing on the over-lap and collected a pass from Robben.
Bridge swung a cross towards the near-post and Drogba’s flying header flashed past Weaver. Mikel John Obi came on as a late sub to make his Chelsea debut.
Lampard came close to adding a fourth in the closing minutes but was a yard wide.
Shevchenko had the ball in the net in stoppage time but it was ruled out for offside.
