UK security experts deny over-reaction

19/08/2006 - 09:35:42
Security experts in the UK have dismissed suggestions that the authorities there are over-reacting to the potential terrorist threat posed to passenger aircraft.

The threat level has remained high since the alleged foiled plot to blow up transatlantic aircraft.

Yesterday a plane was diverted after a note was found indicating that a bomb was on board

Aviation security expert Chris Yates said they cannot afford to take any chances and have to go through the correct procedures.

“We can't take risks with the safety of passengers on any flight, whether it be a British Airways flight, a US Airways flight or any other.

"We have to take the precaution of getting the aircraft on the ground and carrying out the investigation once everybody has been evacuated from that aircraft.”
