Hammers under strength for opener
18/08/2006 - 10:47:59West Ham have been hit by injuries ahead of their opening Barclays Premiership clash with Charlton.
Striker Dean Ashton is out until at least mid-November after breaking his ankle training with England.
Winger Matthew Etherington (knee) plus new signings Jonathan Spector (shoulder), Robert Green (groin) and George McCartney (ankle) are all unavailable.
But Anton Ferdinand, Danny Gabbidon and Yossi Benayoun all came through midweek international duty unscathed.
