Irish imports and exports up

The value of goods imported and exported by the economy both rose during the first six months of this year compared to the same period in 2005.

The Central Statistics Office has reported that Ireland exported more than €37bn worth of goods for this period, an increase of over €1bn on the 2005 figure.

Imports stand at almost €25bn, up from €23.5bn for January to May last year.
