Govt urged to end LUAS firm’s contract over Israeli links

The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign is urging the Department of Transport not to renew the contract of the multinational firm that operates the LUAS system in Dublin.

The groups says Veolia, formerly known as Connex, is involved in building a light-rail system linking illegal Israeli settlements in east Jerusalem.

The Irish branch of the company has already cancelled a deal to offer technical support to the Israeli project under pressure from the Irish Congress of Trade Unions.

However, the IPSC wants the Government to end Veolia's LUAS contract altogether in protest at the Israeli scheme.
