American suspect 'admits' JonBenet killing
Thai police today said that a 41-year-old American man has admitted to the killing a decade ago of six-year-old beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey in the United States.
Lieutenant General Suwat Tumrongsiskul, head of Thailand’s immigration police, said John Mark Karr confessed to the killing after his arrest yesterday at a Bangkok apartment.
“He told police while under arrest that he did kill the girl, but so far he has not pleaded guilty in writing. This is needed as official evidence,” Suwat said.
Suwat said Karr arrived at Bangkok’s Don Muang International Airport on June 6 from Penang, Malaysia, and was looking for a teaching job. It was not clear whether he got a teaching position, the police officer said.
Karr’s visa has been revoked as an “undesirable person” given the accusations against him, and US authorities were expected to take him to the United States in the next few days, Suwat said.
