SIPTU to reveal results of national pay deal ballot
16/08/2006 - 07:47:10The results of SIPTU's ballot on the new social partnership deal is due to be announced later today.
The union's national executive council recommended that members vote in favour of the Towards 2016 agreement, which includes pay rises totalling 10% over a 27-month period.
However, the wider trade union is divided about the merits of the deal.
SIPTU's support is seen as crucial to getting the deal ratified at a special ICTU conference next month as the union is Ireland's largest, with 200,000 members.
