Aer Lingus delayed luggage backlog almost cleared
16/08/2006 - 14:00:46Aer Lingus has said it has almost cleared the backlog of delayed luggage caused by the tightening of security measures at British airports.
The airline says around 700 items of luggage checked in at Heathrow Airport in the past three days had been delayed due to the chaos surrounding the increased security.
However, it says it has now reunited most of the luggage with its owners.
The problem was caused by Heathrow's inability to cope with the surge in checked-in luggage that followed the imposition of a ban on hand luggage last week.
