Weir retains captaincy
15/08/2006 - 10:02:45Veteran defender David Weir will retain the captain’s armband at Everton, with Phil Neville appointed as vice-skipper.
There were suggestions Neville would take over completely, but Everton boss David Moyes intends to use the experience of the Scotland international Weir.
Moyes said: “David will stay as captain but Phil will help him.”
With Weir currently out with a groin injury, Neville will skipper the side in their Premiership opener at home to Watford on Saturday.
